Orthodontics at Dentistar
Orthodontic treatment corrects the position of the teeth and the relationship of the jaws, improving smile, chewing and oral health simultaneously. At Dentistar Dental Clinic in Strovolos, Nicosia, we offer the full range of modern orthodontic methods — from interceptive treatment in children to invisible clear aligners for adults. Our goal is a beautiful, functional and stable result — with the treatment option that suits your lifestyle.
Pre-orthodontic treatment (also known as interceptive or “Phase 1” orthodontics) is applied to young children, with the goal of widening the jaw and creating sufficient space for the permanent teeth that are coming.
Metal braces are the most classic, affordable and effective orthodontic method.
Ceramic (or “clear”) braces are the aesthetic alternative to classic metal orthodontic appliances.
Lingual braces are the most discreet option of fixed orthodontic treatment.
Clear aligners are the most modern and discreet orthodontic method of the decade.
How We Work at Dentistar
Every cosmetic treatment begins with one goal: to suit you. At Dentistar, we use digital photography, smile analysis and where applicable a preview of the expected result before any treatment begins.
Ages & Timing
Children (6–11 years) — Pre-orthodontics / Phase 1
The first orthodontic check-up is recommended around age 7. At this age the jaw is still developing— so with palatal expanders or functional appliances we can create space for permanent teeth, correct crossbites and guide natural growth properly — avoiding much larger interventions later.
Adolescents (11–17 years) — Classic Orthodontics
The most common age for braces or aligners. Most permanent teeth have erupted and the jaws are still developing, which makes treatment easier.
Adults
There is no age limit. Modern orthodontics offers many discreet solutions (ceramic, lingual, clearaligners) that suit professional and social life.
Everything You Need to Know
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
When should I take my child for their first orthodontic check-up?
Around age 7. At this age, we catch growth issues early (narrow jaw, crossbite) that can be corrected with pre-orthodontic treatment (a palatal expander) — much more easily than later.
How long does orthodontic treatment take?
Pre-orthodontics (palatal expander) takes 6–9 months. Classic treatment with braces or aligners: 12–24 months. Simple cases can be completed in 6–12 months.
Do braces hurt?
No. Placement is completely painless. In the first 2–5 days after each adjustment, you may notice mild tightness, which subsides on its own.
Braces or clear aligners?
It depends on the case. Braces are more effective for complex problems. Clear aligners suit milder cases and offer aesthetic advantages and flexibility. At Dentistar, we recommend the appropriate option after planning.
How much does orthodontic treatment cost in Cyprus?
Cost depends on the appliance type (expander, metal, ceramic, lingual, aligners) and treatment duration. Pre-orthodontics is significantly more affordable and often reduces the cost of the second phase. At Dentistar, we provide a clear quote after the initial assessment.
Am I too old for orthodontics?
No. Orthodontics works at any age, provided gums and teeth are healthy. Many patients start in their 30s, 40s or 50s — and with modern discreet methods, those around you may never notice.
