Smile Design
What Is Smile Design?
Smile Design is a process of analysing and digitally designing your smile, combining aesthetic principles (golden ratio proportions, symmetry, colour) with functional aspects (bite, chewing). It isn’t a single treatment — it’s a comprehensive plan that may include: whitening, porcelain veneers, crowns, orthodontics or gum contouring.
When Smile Design Is Recommended
- If you want a complete change in your smile
- If you have many teeth with discolouration or irregular shapes
- If there is gum asymmetry or a “gummy” smile
- If you have wear from grinding, old restorations or gaps
- For special occasions (wedding, important event, career reasons)
The Process Step by Step
Interview & analysis:
We discuss what you'd like to change — and what you don't. We document preferences, age, facial features, profession and lifestyle.
Digital photography & impressions:
We take digital photos, videos and impressions. All data is loaded into specialised design software.
Digital pre-design:
We create an image of your potential new smile so you can see the expected result in advance.
In-mouth try-in (mock-up):
Reevaluation in 6–8 weeks and a maintenance schedule (typically every 3–4 months).
Treatment implementation:
After your approval, we implement the plan: whitening, veneers, crowns, gum contouring — as needed.
Final assessment & maintenance:
Check-ups every 6 months to maintain the result long-term.

Everything You Need to Know
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How long does Smile Design take?
From 2 weeks to 2–3 months, depending on complexity. Digital design and mock-up take 1–2 appointments; individual treatments are scheduled afterwards.
Can I see the result before committing?
Yes — that’s the essence of Smile Design. With digital simulation and in-mouth mock-up, you see the expected result before any tooth is touched.
Is the result permanent?
Most procedures (porcelain veneers, crowns) last 10–15+ years. Whitening requires periodic refreshing. With proper care, your new smile lasts for many years.
Does Smile Design hurt?
No. All treatments are performed under local anaesthesia where needed. In many plans (e.g. whitening + no-prep veneers), no anaesthesia is required at all.
How much does a Smile Makeover cost in Cyprus?
Cost depends on the plan: from several hundred euros for small interventions to several thousand for a full makeover. At Dentistar, you receive a personalised, transparent quote after the digital design phase.
Is it suitable for all ages?
Smile Design is for adults with a fully developed mouth and healthy gums. For children and teenagers, cosmetic interventions are coordinated with Dentistar’s Paediatric Dentistry team.
