Everything You Need to Know

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How often should I have a dental cleaning?

A professional cleaning is recommended every 6 months. For patients with braces, dental implants or a history of periodontitis, your dentist may suggest more frequent cleanings.

No. Modern fillings are placed under local anaesthesia, so the procedure is painless. After treatment, you may experience mild sensitivity for 1–2 days, which resolves on its own.

A well-placed composite (white) filling typically lasts 7–10 years or more, depending on the tooth’s position, oral hygiene and dietary habits.

Root canal treatment (endodontic therapy) is needed when the pulp of a tooth — the nerve and blood vessels inside — becomes inflamed or infected. We remove the affected tissue, clean and seal the root canals, saving the tooth from extraction.

Children are treated by our specialised Paediatric Dentistry team at Dentistar, designed to make the visit pleasant and painless for younger patients. Please see our Paediatric Dentistry section for more information.

Some insurance providers and funds offer dental coverage. At Dentistar, we provide detailed receipts and statements so you can submit them for reimbursement.
