Dentures

What Is a Denture?

Dentures are removable prosthetic restorations that replace missing teeth — either an entire arch or just a portion. At Dentistar Dental Clinic in Strovolos, Nicosia, we design and fit custom-made dentures using modern materials so they look natural, fit comfortably and let you chew and speak with confidence.

When You Need a Crown When You Need Dentures

Types of Crowns Types of Dentures

Complete (Full) Dentures

Replace all teeth in one arch. They rest on the gums and bone — or, in a more modern approach, are supported by dental implants for greater stability.

Partial Dentures

Used when some healthy teeth remain. They are held in place by special clasps attached to natural teeth, without damaging them.

Implant-Supported Overdentures

A modern solution anchored to dental implants or remaining tooth roots. They offer significantly greater stability and comfort than traditional complete dentures.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How long does it take to get used to a denture?

Usually 2–4 weeks for full adaptation. In the first few days you may notice increased salivation or slight difficulty speaking — all of which disappear as your muscles adjust.

Yes. It’s recommended you remove it every night and store it in clean water or a special cleaning solution. Your gums need to “rest” to stay healthy.

With a soft brush or a special denture soap after every meal. Avoid regular toothpaste — it can scratch the surface.

With proper care, 5–10 years. However, over time the underlying bone changes, and the denture may need relining or replacement.

Yes. Implant-supported overdentures are a modern solution anchored to 2–4 implants, providing far greater stability. At Dentistar, we can plan this transition individually for you.

The fitting itself is completely painless. In the first few days you may notice small pressure points on the gums — these are easily adjusted at quick follow-up visits.
