What Is Teeth Whitening?

Whitening uses special solutions of hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide that penetrate the enamel and break down the stains accumulated from coffee, tea, wine, smoking or simply time.

The result: teeth several shades whiter, with a completely natural appearance.

Suitability check:

We examine your teeth and gums, record the starting shade and confirm we can proceed safely.

Gum protection:

A special protective gel is applied to your gums so they don't come into contact with the whitening agent.

Gel application & laser activation:

The gel is applied to the teeth and activated by the laser light in 2–3 cycles of 15 minutes each.

Result evaluation:

Before/after comparison and — if needed — an extra cycle to reach the desired outcome.

Instructions & maintenance:

We give you personalised instructions (avoiding staining foods for 48 hours) and optional maintenance trays for home use.

Types of Whitening

In-office Whitening with Laser

Performed by the dentist in a single appointment lasting about 45–60 minutes. A high-concentration gel is activated by a special laser light. Advantage: immediate, visible results from the first session.

Take-home Whitening with Custom Trays

We take impressions and make precision trays. You apply a lower-concentration gel at home, for 30–60 minutes a day, for 10–14 days. Advantage: gradual, more natural result and less sensitivity.

Combined Whitening

The ideal solution for many patients: one in-office session for immediate results, supplemented with night-time trays at home to consolidate and extend the whitening.

How long do whitening results last?

Usually 1–3 years, depending on dietary habits (coffee, tea, wine, smoking) and oral hygiene. With annual or biannual touch-ups, results can be maintained long-term.

Is it painful?

No. There may be transient cold sensitivity for 24 – 48 hours, which resolves on its own. We use new-generation products with built-in desensitising agents.

How much whiter do teeth get?

Typically 4–8 shades whiter. The exact result depends on starting shade, the cause of staining and the whitening method. The goal is a natural, not “artificially” white result.

Does whitening damage enamel?

No, when done correctly and under dental supervision. Professional whitening solutions are controlled and don’t cause permanent enamel damage.

Does whitening work on crowns, veneers or fillings?

No. Ceramic materials and resins don’t change colour with whitening. That’s why if you’re considering veneers or crowns, whitening is done first — and the restoration colour is then matched to your new, whiter teeth.
